📚 About Writer Sprout
What makes Writer Sprout different from traditional publishers?
We partner with authors as true collaborators. We don't acquire rights or control your work—we support your vision. We're selective (not every manuscript), maintain literary standards, and treat each book with genuine care rooted in our philosophy of supporting authentic stories.
Do you accept unsolicited manuscripts?
Yes! We accept manuscript submissions through our submission portal. We review all submissions and respond within 6-8 weeks. If we're interested in working together, we'll reach out directly.
What genres do you publish?
We publish across all genres: literary fiction, genre fiction, memoir, narrative nonfiction, children's books, young adult, environmental writing, and more. We look for compelling stories with authentic voices.
✏️ Services & Pricing
What if I only need editing, not full publishing services?
We offer individual services! You can get editing, coaching, ghostwriting, or design services without committing to full publishing. We're flexible and work with authors at all stages.
How long does the publishing process take?
Timeline varies based on your project and services chosen. Editing typically takes 4-6 weeks. Full publishing from contract to launch is usually 4-6 months. We never rush quality.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! We understand publishing costs are significant. We offer flexible payment arrangements for most services. Contact us to discuss options for your specific project.
🌱 Author Partnership
Do you take a percentage of book sales?
No. We charge for services upfront. You keep 100% of royalties and earnings from your book sales. There are no hidden fees or long-term percentage arrangements.
What rights do you retain?
You retain all rights to your work. We provide services and distribution support, but you own your manuscript, characters, world, and intellectual property completely.
Can I publish with another publisher if I work with Writer Sprout?
Absolutely! Our service agreements are non-exclusive. If we provide editing or coaching, you're free to publish elsewhere. We have no restrictions on your other publishing endeavors.
🌾 Distribution
Will my book be in physical bookstores?
Yes! Our distribution partners provide access to thousands of independent bookstores globally. We also work with major chain retailers. Your book can be found through IngramSpark and traditional wholesale channels.
How do royalties work?
You receive royalties from all sales channels (Amazon, direct sales, libraries, etc.). Royalty rates vary by format (print vs. digital) and sales channel. We provide detailed quarterly reporting.
What are your pricing structures for poetry collections?
+
Poetry collections start at £3,500 for our Budding Poet tier and reach £12,000 for our Full Service Premier service. Pricing depends on manuscript length, design complexity, and included marketing support.
Do you offer payment plans for smaller budgets?
+
We offer flexible payment plans with as little as 25% down and the remainder spread over 4-6 months. We're committed to making publishing accessible to poets at all life stages.
How many poems should a collection contain?
+
We recommend 40-80 poems for debut collections, though we can work with shorter chapbooks (20-30 poems) or longer retrospectives (100+ poems). The story your collection tells matters more than a specific count.
What file format do you need for poem manuscripts?
+
Please submit manuscripts as .doc, .docx, or .pdf files with clear line breaks and stanza spacing preserved. Include a table of contents and any notes about pronunciation for challenging names or foreign language passages.
How do you handle line breaks and formatting in design?
+
We work directly with you to ensure your intentional formatting translates to the printed page. Our designers have extensive experience with poetry spacing and understand how formatting affects reading experience.
Can I include previously published poems in my collection?
+
Yes, previously published work can be included as long as you own the rights or have obtained reprint permissions. You're responsible for securing these permissions from original publishers.
Do you provide ISBN assignment for poets?
+
Yes, every collection receives a unique ISBN at no extra cost. You retain ownership of the ISBN registration, ensuring your work is catalogued under your name.
What marketing support is included?
+
All poets receive listing in our online catalog, submissions to poetry review journals, and coordination with independent bookshops specializing in poetry. Premium tiers include social media promotion and connections with poetry reading venues.
How long does the publishing timeline typically run?
+
From manuscript acceptance to publication, expect 10-14 weeks. This includes developmental editing (if needed), line editing, design, and printing. We can arrange expedited timelines for time-sensitive work.
Do you help with author readings and events?
+
Yes. We coordinate local reading events, assist with submissions to literary festivals, and provide speaking notes and bios for events. Premium packages include promotional support for larger tour launches.
What if my collection has illustrations or visual elements?
+
We can integrate artwork and visual elements if you have high-resolution files. We also connect poets with local artists if you'd like commissioned illustrations for your collection.
Can international poets work with Writer Sprout?
+
Absolutely. We've published poets from across the UK, Europe, and globally. We handle all international logistics, currency conversions, and shipping arrangements seamlessly.
